The course starts in a Pinhal area of the Marim Environmental Education Center (CEAM) and goes towards the Interpretive Center.

This route goes through a set of points of natural interest, such as Pinhal; the Sapal and Juncal Zones; a freshwater pond; a zone of dunes and a small grove of holm oak and cork oak. Freshwater pond, although temporary, is nevertheless important for breeding small frogs and midwives toads (newts and salamanders) This route can be self-guided or an appointment can be made with the Natural Park for groups for a guided trail.

Trail
Habitat

In these types of habitat one can observe a great floristic and faunistic variety, namely avifauna. With regard to the vifauna, we can find species such as the White Stork, the Great Tit; the Bugs; the egret or coot are some of the ones found here.

Bird Species

The birdlife at the Marim Environmental Education Center is particularly interesting. Here you can see the regularly occurring waterfowl throughout Ria Formosa such as waders, flamingos, spoonbills, cormorants, ducks, herons, loons, coots and terns, gulls and terns, among others.

Passerines

Within birds the passerines constitute the order with the largest number of species and the largest number of individuals. Its size varies between the starfish, Regulus regus (the smallest European bird with only 9cm in length) and the crow Corvus corax (the largest of the 65cm long passerines). Birds of this order are characterized by the fact that all species have paws with three toes facing forward and one back, adapted to perch. The high morphological and habit diversity recommends the use of several characteristics of each family to quickly reach the correct identification of the species to which each individual belongs. The observer should pay particular attention to the shape of the beak, habits and plumage.
